FAQs
What do you mean for BIPOC, POC & LGBTQIA People?
There are a lot of zoom reading groups out there. This one is focused on the needs of marginalized artists to have a reserved space for their work. Black, Indigenous, Asian, MENA and the whole spectrum of LGBTQIA writers, actors and directors are invited to apply to use this space to showcase their work.
How do I start to submit?
Head over to our contact page and send an email with a brief intro, your resume and, of course, your script. Include:
1) Script Title
2) Format + Genre
3) Logline
4) No. of pages
5) Character List:
----- Please include roles that may be doubled-up on for readers. For example, if you have three characters in who do NOT interact with each other, then one reader can read all three roles. Please use the following template to indicate one reader for multiple characters: Reader 1: Jane/Jack/Jill
---- Please include any specific character ethnicities.
---- For Main Cast ONLY, please include age and a brief descriptor (e.g. JANE (30s, stubborn to the bone))
What genres can I submit?
That’s up to you. All we ask for is your best work.
The only limit we have is on time. No longer than 1hr maximum and we do ask that writers stay on afterward for a Q&A session. So if you have a movie script, still submit. Just know we’ll be using a few scenes for your workshop.
Why an hour’s time limit?
Not everyone can commit to attend 2 or 3 hour readings. An hour is a relatively easy block of time to commit to for both performers and audience members.
What’s the submission process?
You send your script, we read it and then we consider it for the current month’s readings. We may add it to the slate for the upcoming month. Once chosen, we pair you with a director and start casting.
How much input do I have?
A lot. You are invited to discuss casting and to attend the rehearsal. Of course all rights remain yours and we host the final video on our YouTube channel.
